Well..............While I am pleased to be correct to the day....(Sun 2/26) for the arrival of the next cold blast, I was incorrect regarding it's staying power in S. Fla. While it will stay in the 60's for the most part in the Sun-Tues timeframe with very chilly nights, the trof is not digging as deeply as I had thought with 2 polar vortex's rotating through the NE US in the coming 7-10 days. We will have another quick cold shot Tue-Thurs the following week, but no highs will anchor long enough to our west to maintain the cold pattern. So in short.............we go cold- -warm-- chilly--end of winter, between now and March 10th.............................By the way..........we are running a little more than -2 degrees below normal for the month as of today..........Thank goodness February is a short month, as this mini cold snap should put me over the top for my -3 degree forecasted monthly anormality at Page Field..

Nice job on the forecasting once again. I'm hoping that this is the end of the cold like you said. It may get chilly for a few nights this coming week but thats no big deal. I can deal with mid to low 50's at night. The temp swing that we had about 2 weeks ago is what I really dont care for. Thats probably what got me sick with a cold for almost a week and a half.. . Approximately three more weeks until Spring! To me thats the best time of the year down here. The line of showers moving through the Gulf now should be here by tomorrow I'm guessing. A lot of activity in northern Florida, Ga, La and Al throughout the day. They had some heavy precipitation with some CG lightning. It's all a matter of time before some of it arrives here. _________________ Chris

We sure did Jeff. It got into the high 40's at the beginning of the week but as you can tell its starting to warm up quickly and I think the remainder of the week will call for good weather until about Friday. 20% chance of rain and cooler temps during weekend. Do you think that will be our last front of the year? It seems that each one that is hitting Florida now is getting weaker and weaker. I think we're getting close, atleast it seems like it. Talked to a guy from Sarasota today and he confirmed flurries during that heavy front in early Feb. He quoted, "Flurries were all over the place". Looks like we barely missed them. Oh well, maybe next season. _________________ Chris

I feel that we will still get fronts in here at least thru March. Now that being said, the average high temps will be into the 80's shortly, so cooldowns into the 70's not 60's will be the rule with nights in the 50's. The SE ridge is beginning to flex it's muscle now though................It is safe to put away the coats in SW Fla until next year..............Not so for the folks in the Ne who are still having below zero mornings
