The first tropical depression has formed just off the SW coast of Mexico and looks very healthy. This system is at the tail end of the moisture plume that has been affecting S. Florida over the past several days. While the center of circulation will head away from the coast, some moisture and energy would get pulled NE with the STJ. It would have to traverse a very disruptive chunk of Mexico, but there is a possibility that whatever is drawn from this systems moisture could wind up in the Bay of Campeche with somewhat favorable conditions to develop next week. Odds are low at this time but there is very warm water down there.
