Latest from NHC tropical discussion @ 2:05 pm
GULF OF MEXICO...
A SURFACE TROUGH...THAT WAS IN THE W BAHAMAS AND OVER SOUTH
FLORIDA YESTERDAY HAS TRACKED WESTWARD INTO THE EASTERN GULF OF
MEXICO. AS OF 1500 UTC...THE BOUNDARY LIES ALONG 29N86W 26N83W
23N82W. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND TSTMS ARE WITHIN 90 NM EITHER
SIDE OF THE TROUGH AXIS N OF 26N. DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES A
POSSIBLE SMALL SURFACE LOW DEVELOPING ALONG THE TROUGH NORTHWEST
OF KEY WEST WHERE THERE IS A LARGER AREA OF RAINFALL SOUTH OF
26N...NAMELY WITHIN 180 NM EITHER SIDE OF THE TROUGH AXIS. _________________ This post is for discussion purposes only. Please refer to the National Hurricane Center for official information.
FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS EXTENDING FROM THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA
NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE LEEWARD AND VIRGIN ISLANDS INTO THE
ADJACENT ATLANTIC ARE ASSOCIATED WITH A WESTWARD-MOVING TROPICAL
WAVE. PRESSURES REMAIN HIGH IN THIS AREA AND UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE
CURRENTLY NOT FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT.
DISORGANIZED CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS OVER THE EASTERN GULF OF
MEXICO...WESTERN CUBA...AND THE FLORIDA PENINSULA ARE ASSOCIATED
WITH A WEAK SURFACE TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE. DEVELOPMENT...IF
ANY...SHOULD BE SLOW TO OCCUR.
ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH FRIDAY.

Thats good news Lou. I've been keeping an eye on that disturbance and it's good to get reports that are unfavorable for development. Should we expect any precipitation from this wave once it reaches Florida or do you think it will fizzle out before it even makes it into SWFLA? Thanks for the update. _________________ Chris

Hi Chris. I'm not sure if the northern portion of the wave will be active enough or even extend this far north with the strength to enhance our rainfall. The main portion of the wave is moving thru the central Carribean and I see no reason for that motion to change. _________________ This post is for discussion purposes only.
