The 11:30 TWO states that 99L is moving west at 25 mph. A movement that fast is not good for 99L to close off a surface low. Not good, but not impossible. Recon is on the way.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1130 AM EDT THU AUG 2 2007

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE INCREASED THIS MORNING IN ASSOCIATION
WITH A TROPICAL WAVE AND AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE EASTERN
CARIBBEAN SEA. ALTHOUGH CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING LESS FAVORABLE FOR
DEVELOPMENT...THIS SYSTEM CONTINUES TO HAVE SOME POTENTIAL TO
BECOME A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO AS IT MOVES
WESTWARD NEAR 25 MPH. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER
AIRCRAFT IS CURRENTLY ENROUTE TO INVESTIGATE THE SYSTEM.

CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS CONTINUE OVER THE NORTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO
IN ASSOCIATION WITH A BROAD TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE. THERE ARE NO
SIGNS OF ORGANIZATION BUT SOME SLOW DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE OVER
THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AS THE SYSTEM DRIFTS NORTHWARD.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

If it's going to get its act together, it better do so within the next 24-48 hours because it encounters a lot of shear thereafter.

Hi there, I am new to this site!

I am in the uk, but am travelling with my family to Montego Bay in Jamaica on Wednesday 8th . We should land at about 4pm Jamaican time. I've obviously been following 99L closely these last few days, but I know very little about the weather. Do you think that North Jamaica is in for a battering by this storm? We are getting married out there and have saved up for 5 years for this. We'll be devastated. Sad

Don't worry. By the 8th of the month 99l will be history and will be long gone before you get there.

From the looks of 99L now it's only going to be a rain maker. Latest image shows no organization and a very disfigured rotation with very weak convection. This morning looked like it had hope but now....... Question

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1030 PM EDT THU AUG 2 2007

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

SATELLITE IMAGES INDICATE THAT THE SHOWER ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH
THE TROPICAL WAVE HAS DECREASED DURING THE PAST FEW HOURS. THIS
SUGGESTS THAT THE SYSTEM IS NOT DEVELOPING AT THIS TIME AND THE
POTENTIAL FOR TROPICAL DEPRESSION FORMATION HAS DIMINISHED. THE
TROPICAL WAVE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE RAPIDLY WESTWARD BRINGING
CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS TO JAMAICA...THE CAYMAN ISLANDS AND CENTRAL
AMERICA DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS OVER THE NORTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO
ASSOCIATED WITH A BROAD TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE REMAIN DISORGANIZED.
DEVELOPMENT...IF ANY...SHOULD BE SLOW TO OCCUR.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

Welcome to the forum Laney. Just like Lou said, you shouldn't encounter any issues with this storm. It's moving so fast that it will be in Texas by the time you get to the island. Have fun in Jamaica mon.

Hi Laney. Welcome to CC FL Online Weather. So far, it looks like Jamaica might get alot of rain and hopefuly no flash flooding.
