I have been hearing alot about MJO, I have read alot of literature about it. So my question is, Is this a new thing? I havent heard anything about it until this season? thanks

It's been talked about more due to the active TC cycle that we are in. Whether or not it has a big effect is still up for debate as many Climatologists say that it's overrated while others say it adds fuel to the fire. I look at it as, it can't make unfavorable conditions for development favorable but it could enhance already favorable conditions. Ever since the MJO was mentioned in some of the NHC statements it has now become something that more people are paying attention to. Terms like MJO, ENSO, SAL, etc are now tossed around by the media who have no clue what they are talking about. _________________ LOU
