Heat ridge sinking South to protect US from Felix (which will head to Belize). Disturbance will ride SE over top of ridge and linger East of Florida/Georgia a good part of next week. Big ridge in North Atlantic will combine with advancing trof from Central Plains to cause a natural convergence (spin) to occur over disturbed area as ENE winds around the high combine with SW winds being drawn over from Gulf. This setup SCREAMS development by this time next week. Area most likely to be threatened.....Carolinas. _________________ No...I am not a tropical forecaster....But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once

Probably will be Invest Sluggo 3. Welcome back Jeff.
Been hiking/camping in the White Mts. of NH...........one day felt like I was back in CC (90 w/ 74 dewpoint) Lots of annoying gnat type systems out there. Could have several named entities that won't be any concern to US. I am intrigued over the setup off Florida for next week... (almost as impressed as I was with codders comparison to a storm from half a century ago...... ) Good to be back for the stretch run Lou... _________________ No...I am not a tropical forecaster....But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once

Capecodder is an old buddy of mine (emphasis on OLD) who is big on NE hurricane history. Ask him about the Long Island Express and he will talk your head off. He also has an unhealthy relationship with a pile of rocks known as Mt. Washington. He just can't seem to stay away from that rock pile. poor guy needs help. _________________ LOU

That explains it!.........By the way, thats exactly where I was hiking, it's a great Mt. (6300 ft.) and actually sustained the strongest wind gust ever recorded (231 mph I believe) The beauty of this mountain is that it can be pushing 90 at the base in the valley and when you get to the top it's in the 30's with wind blown ice pellets stinging your face. Ther is a great observatory at the top where Mets./interns spend whole winters (Nov-April) and they drop their food provisions via helicopter. The whole place gets encased in ice. I actually saw a video where they threw a pot of boiling water out the door and it turned into steam without a drop of liquid ever reaching the ground. _________________ No...I am not a tropical forecaster....But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once
