Agree. Most late season storms originate in the sw carribean.
Ingrid could still surprise the upper east coast if it can survive the next few days. Where is SW 46th when you need him!?
Seinfeld or Carpenter? Right over my head.. what is that?

After seeing what Ingrid is going through, I would look in low shear areas first and then where the water is warmest. Based on this and the satellite shots this morning, the SW Cari., East Coast (northeast of Fl.) and C. Atlantic (east of Ingrid). OK...Colonel Jerry in the SW Car. with lead pipe, followed by Miss Karen off the US E. coast with the rope. (hope somebody out there has played CLUE) If something does form in the Caribbean , the shear is very light straight up into the GOM. This is a bit scary after watching how virulent Dean, Felix and Humberto were in this region.

I have no doubt that something is going to spin up west of 75. It's a question of will it be a single system or two systems. The models are bullish on the western Caribbean and east of Florida. It also looks like we have another player in the east Atlantic that should become the next invest. _________________ LOU

Ditto, but call it "Jeronimo", as it look like it will emerge from "Cartagena de las Indias" or the north coast of Colombia, according to the models. Right now, there are pretty powerful thunderstorms inland. I expect that they'll get out to sea in the wee hours. This will probably be the "Jeronimogenesis"! Then as our TV Meteorologist said, there's a good chance that a mid-upper level low will steer it north. Key West could be the first stateside target.
By the way, here in Virginia, it's going down close to 40. Only my mind is going to be tropical now. I'm bringing my palm trees in!
