First below freezing night up here this weekend Rolling Eyes Why should you care in SW Fla ?................Big high setting up off NE coast next week, pressures lowering in Gulf............2 storms possible into Gulf in next 6-10 days. First (but in the Gulf second....if that makes sense)...disturbance in South Carib. to get drawn northward as true tropical system. Second is wave near Hispanola which will move into Gulf early next week will tangle with upper low which will inhibit tropical development initially but lowering pressures in the Gulf and an improving environment should make the system go at least sub-tropical. Oh, and don't write off Ingrid yet. The weaker the system is, the better chance it doesn't recurve and can eventually move west...........IF it happens...........a very slow process. Probably a threat after the other two systems have had their way Rolling Eyes

Jeff, any chance you can send some of that cool air this way? I saw that the GFS model has a tropical system developing in the Carib. and will end up around our area in the next 6-10 days like you mentioned. Not sure how accurate the model is since it is extremely early but it's definitely worth monitoring. Is Ivan's brother going to pop back into the Gulf? I saw this on the models as well with a possibility of it heading back into Tx for round 2.

Those Genesse Cream Ales are getting to you. Nothing in the Gulf is brewing. Anything threatening SW Florida will have to originate in the Caribbean. Sorry to disappoint, but the truth must be spoken sometimes.

Ivan's brother is actually flairing up quite nicely off Brownsville this morning but it is very close to land already. I still like 2 systems in the next 9 days (not counting ingred who is so weak now she is a concern to come west if she can barely hold together the next 3-4 days). The pattern dictates as such.

Agree Jeff. That's pretty much my thinking(two systems and don't write off Ingrid) as I wrote in the Jerry and Karen thread yesterday. It's going to get quite busy and trouble will be coming as we get into late September and into October . The remainder of the season will have Florida and the gulf in the cross hairs and to make matters worse, in October we will have the arrival of the wet phase of the MJO that will throw more fuel on the fire at exactly the wrong time.
