I don't see any hook. Looking at the buoy reports, Grand Bahama Island still shows the strongest winds/ lowest pressure with winds out of the east. All other wind directions are out of the NE -even buoys to the south of GBI buoy. So no closed circulation. If anything, buoys are saying the place to look for a center to develope is to the sw of GBI buoy.
Right / Wrong

I still see it in the latest picture just to the east of Great Abaco. Maybe a mid-level circulation, but again, maybe just my imagination...

What satelitte loop or model are you looking at? Let me know so I can take a look.

bob

Even zooming in , I don't see anything to the east of the Abacos.

What exactly are you seeing?

This will help. The 00Z update. Check the initial conditions paragraph. You will see it's at 25.4N...79.3W. It had been drifting southwest and is east of Key Largo. Moving at 2 kts.

Lou

Ok that puts it sw of the Abacos. Can you see anything east of Key Largo?
And moving 2 mph! Whatever is there, the location will be relocated some where else? Just don't see anything there.
Help me out here.

This will be tropical by thurs night. The biggest fear here is that with the crawling nature of this system combined with the propensity of storms this year to intensify all the way to landfall...............Would not be surprised if there was a Cat 3 by the end of the weekend threatening someone between New Orleans and Houston..........Sorry I can't be more specific yet, but I need to see where a center forms. I do not agree with the modelling taking this up to Jacksonvillle before it goes West. I like Sarasota/Tampa for an entry point to the Gulf..........Bedtime........gonna be an exciting end of the week so I need to get some sleep Rolling Eyes

Ok, I see it now. It's a sheared subtropical system, with the low-level center somewhere between Miami and Bimini. Only slow development for now, however, I wouldn't be surpised if tomorrow morning we wake up to Subtropical Storm Jerry!

It wouldn't surprise me either Manuel. The wind seems to be picking up according to the buoys.
