South Florida Water Management pump station 135 is shown in the foreground near the small town of Port Mayaca, Fla., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, along Lake Okeechobee's, background, eastern shore. The green shown between the pump station and the lake is normally under water. Lake Okeechobee, a backup drinking water source for five million people and the heart of the Everglades, sits at a record low. Plans are under way to restrict lawn-watering and cut water allocations to golf courses and crops in South Florida, as top water and agriculture officials said Monday they expect the region's drought to worsen next year. Hard to believe we can go from dry to dryer. Shocked Any word on when they might tighten up the water restrictions even further in the Cape?

I know what you mean. Here is the latest from the city website. It does not really state much but it may be useful to others who are reading it. I am not exactly sure when the 'new' restrictions' will take place but if you think things are dry now, just wait. Shocked The entire state of Florida will be under a red-flag warning. Expect rain sometime in July. (Only 7 months from now) Confused Wink

Lou,
I actually saw that fire burning when I was out in Captiva Pass. I thought something was burning in the Cape and am glad no homes were wrecked or burned down. It makes you wonder how it started on the mangrove side. Kids having a campfire that got out of control perhaps?

Just incase anybody needs a free check on their irrigation system you can check this out on the city website. I was surprised to see the Cape actually providing something for "free". Amazing! Laughing
