Howdy everyone, We are seeing lots of rain here in my new home just northwest of charlotte. My first spring in the north in about 25 years, had forgotten how beautiful it is. The cherry trees and the crabapples are all blooming right now! Smile

I've been keeping tabs on the radar here and listening to Air Traffic deviating around this huge wall of storms that has not been moving at all to our north and northwest of Tampa Bay. Seems like the southern part of this line is starting to bend and advance eastward compared to the last few hours of just a training northeast movement keeping Citrus Cnty under the gun all day. Looks like 4 or 5 hours for impact here in the Bay area.

I still think the best dynamics for severe weather are up on that Charlotte and Sarasota County line, but hopefully we can squeeze out some more rainfall out of this juicy air down here in the Cape. From a rainfall aspect, it is unfortunate the frontal passage will occur in the dead of night, but given the depth and vigor of this retreating system, an afternoon passage would have probably resulted in much more severe convective activity.

2-3 inches up here in Tampa. Was sitting in the garage watching a good 2 hour straight Lightning show and the house across the street got hit. Thunder sounded like a Nuclear Bomb went off. Another mini line seems to be heading in again behind the front.

Looks like we are due for a half hour or so of rain..maybe a couple rumbles of thunder. Would like more in the way of rain but will have to wait on that. Although early, looks a lot like last year where most of precipitation missed SW Fla. Let's hope the pattern changes. Has anybody checked out El-Nino/La Nino latest patterns and their influences on our area weather patterns?

Bob

Looks like another half-inch of much-needed rain for most of our area... maybe up to 2 inches with the heavy cells just to our north in Charlotte and Sarasota counties.

Expected La Niña impacts during March-May 2008 include a continuation of aboveaverage
precipitation over Indonesia and below-average precipitation over the central equatorial
Pacific. The above average SSTs in the eastern equatorial Pacific may result in increased rainfall
over Ecuador and northern Peru, similar to the evolution during the 1998-2000 La Niña episode.
Compared to the Northern Hemisphere winter, La Niña impacts over the United States in spring
are typically less pronounced. The primary springtime signal for the contiguous United States is
an increased probability of below-average precipitation across the South, particularly in the
Southeast.
