What is everyone expaction for this hurricane season? I think we well see two more named stormes than we did last season. But I think the biggest difference will be the landfall toatal on the US. Cool

Hi Ben, We have a similar topic already. What do you predict will happen this year based on this thread? BTW, welcome to the forum. Very Happy

The US has been pretty lucky the past few years by not having a powerful TC hit on our soil. I guess we needed a break from all the destruction that took place in 04' and the record breaking 05' season. I just read that Felix and Dean were retired as names from the Atlantic tropical cyclone name list. Let's hope none get retired next year from a US landfall.

Novice take here but I see a slightly less active season as predicted with us getting maybe 1 Tropical Storm hitting Fl and no US landfalling storms. I see this due to the more southerly position of the high pressure system that we have been seeing. I personally dont see a Bermuda High Pattern setting in anytime soom to steer and Hurricanes to us. I see maybe a possible Texas hit and most stuff being shunted to the south.

Just a though..
Though La Nina may be slowly unwinding, we are still in a La Nina phase, I'm thinking there will be numerous tropical lows and Rossby waves this season but the intensities will be less with mainly weak systems. A few Tropical storms on the cards but hurricane strength development will likely be at the lower end of the scale this season.. Late season activity may be the stronger stuff.
The most intense Hurricanes I've observed happen during Neutral and El Nino years though the numbers are much less.
