18z GFS run has started. At 108 hours the GFS has Bertha due east of the northern Bahamas and due south of Bermuda.

at 216 hrs drifting north to the west of Bermuda. Yes, I see that thing in the Gulf but I refuse to believe it at the 216 hour low resolution portion of the GFS run. Bertha exists, that puppy the GFS shows in the Gulf does not. Very Happy so far. No point going further. We have reached the "mostly fiction" portion of the GFS run.

CATEGORY TWO INTENSITY LATER TODAY...

AT 1100 AM AST...1500Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE BERTHA WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 19.6 NORTH...LONGITUDE 51.3 WEST OR ABOUT 775 MILES...
1250 KM...EAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS.

BERTHA IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 15 MPH...24 KM/HR.
A GRADUAL TURN TOWARDS THE NORTHWEST WITH A REDUCTION IN FORWARD
SPEED IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 90 MPH...150 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS...AND BERTHA COULD BECOME A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE LATER

THE CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 115
MILES...185 KM.

REPEATING THE 1100 AM AST POSITION...19.6 N...51.3 W. MOVEMENT
TOWARD...WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 15 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...90
