Here is an article derived by the CSIRO on climate change..
I was interested in investigating whether higher carbon levels in the atmosphere can result in enhanced lightning intensities..
Quote from article:
"Climate change is likely to impact on wildfire risk, largely through its impact on climate extremes, rather than gradual changes in average temperature and rainfall occurring over decades. Internationally, there is great uncertainty associated with studies on the impact of climate change on forest fires (Lemmen & Warren 2004; Shugart et al. 2003). Current projections suggest that, in south-eastern Australia, the frequency of very high and extreme fire danger may increase by 4%–25% by 2020, and by 15%–70% by 2050, with greater changes predicted for the inland than for the coast (Hennessy et al. 2005). Lightning strikes are predicted to increase in tropical northern Australia, but the impact of climate change on their incidence in the south is currently uncertain."

When one sifts through the agenda-driven "research", we can see that periods where oceanic temperatures rise above normal do see an increased number of thunderstorms worldwide, hence, an increased amount of lightning. During these periods, CO2 levels are higher as well.
It is important to realize, however, that the rises in CO2 levels FOLLOW sustained periods of warmer global temperatures. Many folks just have this backward. I have not seen one logical model that would support rising levels of CO2 as being a precedent to rising global temperatures. We hear that all the time, but it is erroneously reported as fact because it fits the template of a popular political agenda... advanced largely by the same folks who claimed that "global cooling" was caused by the same burning of fossil fuels back in the 1970s.

I agree
The 'Global Warming' issue is blown way out of proportion imo..
We do have a degree of contribution but...
The earth naturally changes constantly, it has done since the dawn of time and still does now.. in pre-historic times there was far more fumes and gas emmitions as a result of widespread volcanic activity, tar and sulphur lakes.. mother nature handled that era pretty well!
The good news with global pantropical areas is there are predictions to have higher amounts of lightning, I think that is great! _________________ The Top End. Land of the lightning spirits.
