Well, since it's still dry in the Sahara SW, maybe we need to appoint Sandy the K9 as lead forecaster. _________________ Chris

Amazing Chris. It looks like there is a wall up at Cape Coral Parkway.
I think I'll just start calling it the SW Rain Shield. Alright, please turn it off whoever enabled the switch. _________________ Chris

I've got a gallon of water in the fridge I could pour in the guage to catch up to you with. Of course it would look completely inaccurate with a rain rate of 150 inch/hr. _________________ Chris

I know the heat island effect is not really applicable to our area. But the rain patterns continue to be constant for the past several years. Less rain in SW Cape , more rain to our north and south. Maybe we are overlooking some heat island factors. Maybe there is more to the HI effect than we know. It just seems there is something going on with our rain pattern. In the past, everyone got dumped on.

In general, areas along the immediate western coast of Florida receive less rainfall during the summertime because the diurnal convection peaks in intensity further inland (the actual points of the boundary collisions). Some storms are weakened or die completely before ever reaching the coast.

Isn't that frustrating.. watching nice big colourful blobs march in on radar just to see them collapse before they reach you
We have the same thing happen hear in Darwin, rural areas get the goods moreso and we get the collapsing remnents, we call it the 'Palmerston Storm Shield' _________________ The Top End. Land of the lightning spirits.
