Yes, the deep SW flow should result in some more downpours later tonight into tomorrow... and an interesting feature will be our return to a SE flow on Friday with substantial moisture still in place driving the diurnal convection back toward the coast later in the day. Quite often these "drier" easterly flows result in some ferocious afternoon storms along the I-75 corridor.

The low pressure system that was over the eastern gulf yesterday is now off the southeast U.S. coast near the north Florida/Georgia waters. This 'low' has decent structure and some convection is increasing. The NHC does not seem impressed at the current time but if convection continues to build this could become the next Invest quickly.

It's certainly pulling out of here fairly rapidly, so the flow off the Gulf may not be as significant as we surmised. I still think we're in for some ferocious convective activity later on Friday as the SE regime takes over and the seabreeze interactions start working with all this moist air. I'm surprised current POPs are only at 40 for late tomorrow.

snipped from 2 pm NHC Tropical weather outlook.
"THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY HAS INCREASED NEAR A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
LOCATED ABOUT 75 MILES EAST OF JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA. ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS COULD ALLOW FOR SOME SLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM
DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS THE LOW DRIFTS TO THE NORTH OR
NORTH-NORTHEAST."
Based on those comments and the trend in the satellite images, I would expect Invest 96L at any time. _________________ This post is for discussion purposes only. Please refer to the National Hurricane Center for official information.
