Do you think Lee County will get some of this rainfall during evening hours?

So far we are missing out on a massive display of training. I turned my computer on at 4:30 am this morning and cells were training in off the gulf along the central Florida coast. The training has not stopped all day. The area has been slowly sinking south but this is also the time of day when this type of convection begins to weaken. So to answer your question......maybe we get a little, maybe we get drenched. No way to tell for sure. The flooding is getting very bad in the counties to our north with rivers approaching or exceeding flood stage. This training will likely continue until Friday.

NWS TAMPA 7/2/09

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL REDEVELOP OVER THE COASTAL WATERS OFF TAMPA BAY BY SUNRISE ADVECTING ONSHORE AND EXPANDING SOUTHEAST. MAIN THREAT WILL ONCE AGAIN BE VERY HEAVY RAIN WITH WIDESPREAD TOTALS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES...AND LOCALLY 3 TO 6 INCHES. FLOOD WATCH WILL PERSIST THROUGH THIS EVENING WITH WIDESPREAD FLOODING OF STREETS AND LOW LYING AREAS LIKELY. SIGNIFICANT RISES WILL CONTINUE ON RIVERS AND STREAMS IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA FOR THE NEXT 24 TO 48 HOURS. STRONGER STORMS MAY PRODUCE WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH. WATERSPOUTS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE OVER THE COASTAL WATERS...AND THESE STORMS MAY PRODUCE AN ISOLATED SHORT LIVED TORNADO AFTER THEY MOVE ONSHORE OVER THE COASTAL COUNTIES AS HAS BEEN THE CASE THE PAST TWO DAYS. ONSHORE FLOW WILL ALSO CONTINUE A MODERATE TO HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS AT AREA BEACHES TODAY.
