The Satellite imagery tonight indicated a swirl in the atmosphere in the Gulf of mexico with scattered Showers and Thunderstorms surrounding the Low.

Could the 2006 season potentially begin early with Tropical Depression#1 or is this Low pressure Non-Tropical?

Yes, there is a swirl off the S. Tx coast around 25N;95W but probably nothing to be worried about. I'm not an expert so I can't say for sure. I would just keep an eye on things and follow up with the tropical discussion. It also seems like it won't have enough runway to develop even if it did. That is ofcourse unless it stayed stationary for a couple of days.

Thanks for the welcome.

Well it seems the system is an Upper level Low pressure therefore it is currently none-tropical.For it to be Tropical in natural the there needs to be a surface Low pressure. Also as SW said shear is preventing any tropical development currently.
