Final 2010 numbers

Final numbers for the 2010 season are

19 named storms
12 Hurricanes
5 major Hurricanes

My numbers from May 2010 were

19 named storms.
13 Hurricanes
7 major Hurricanes

Fairly close but no cigar. I busted on U.S. hurricane landfalls as I expected three and there were none, although residents of Brownsville Texas may dispute that point. I missed the Majors by 2 but it's possible after the NHC does it's post season review they may bump one of the cat 2's to a three. I also busted with my forecast of 1 cat 5 but postseason review may bump Igor to a 5. All in all it was a very busy season and at the same time it was a quiet season for the U.S., unlike the Caribbean which took another beating. We have now gone 5 years without a U.S. landfall and I'm hoping we make it to 6 in 2011.

I want to thank all the people that contributed to the forum and hope to see all of you back next season when we start all over again. Very Happy

I take it that "your numbers" were predictions. If they were, then I'd say you WERE pretty darn close. No sense in beatin' yourself up. Smile

Y'know, I never really thought about doing the guessing game for predicting storms, hurricanes and so on. In the past, I had always done the "wait and see." Now that I'm here, maybe I can predict not only the NUMBER of hurricanes, but perhaps the time of each. Wouldn't that be interesting! Smile
