Very interesting development Bob. Noticed this in the AM today. I just have a feeling the season is going to kick off a bit early this year. Check this image out.

Ok its been almost 5 years since I transplanted here from NJ and I am really really surprised water temps didnt even get below 76 here all winter(albiet there were 2 days of 74) and they were days of cold air and with our short stint of cold air it rapidly warmned up nicely. I believe here on the east coast the average low temp of the atlantic is around 68-72 and the gulf really never cooled down to what I am used to seeing it as I think the lowest I seen the gulf this year was mid 60s instead of high 50s north of Sarasota .Lotst of latent heat in the waters this year . This year I have a bad feeling of already . The only thing I see that may preclude that is a positive NAO and we shall see. Enso stays nuetral througout the summer . Its been warm as heck all winter on this side . Preview of convective season from Wednesday-Sunday which I think may ensue early this year around the last week of April -first week of May . gonna start dusting the weather models off the bookmarks soon and start to fire them away .
