I guess it's possible they may reactivate 97L however the environment is very hostile and development chances are about zero. _________________ LOU

Reminds me a lot of the wave that became Hurricane Erin some years back. Same location & appearance. We were in the Caribbean Islands when the wave passed over and wasn't following the tropics for a few days. Then our flight was cancelled back to Orlando with Erin visiting east Central Fl. Boy was I suprised! Go to wikipedia and punch up Erin for all the history, track and radar loops.
This wave is dealing with 30 kts of shear and it is also moving west at 20+ kts which is adding to the shear. There is no vorticity at the 500 MB level and also none at the 850 MB level. There is little to no low level convergence and there is an Upper Low to the northeast which is creating upper level divergence over the wave and that is causing the convective blow-up. Development chance remains at 0. _________________ LOU
