Emily has been fighting influxes of dry air off the nearby coast of Venezuela. This has inhibited her from becoming a hurricane today. After moving slightly South of due West, she seems to slowely be gaining latitude this evening. If the storm continues to slowly distance itself from South America, it will gradually stop pulling dry air into it's circulation and become a hurricane. My best guess is by 5pm Thurs. The fact that it will most certainly pass underneath Jamaica means it will not cross Dennis' path through the Carribean nor the cooler waters upwelled by him. This leaves only Honduras (God help them!) or the Yucatan to slow Emily down before she eventually meats her waterloo in extreme northern Mexico or SE Texas late Tuesday night (Mexico) or Wednesday (Texas). While it is possible for her to hit the Yucatan as a Cat 3, I don't see her being more than a Cat 2 upon her final landfall.

Storm really exploading as it jogs NW around an island chain North of Venezuela, deep convection around center......The Carribean is boiling and this looks like a season for the ages..............

It sure is exploding, Emily now up to 125mph and forecasted to go far west of Florida according to the weather channel experts. I'm just waiting for NOAA to release the 11pm report.
