We are now entering the REAL Hurricane season and all indications are that it's not going to be fun. Colorado State University, NOAA, and Tropical StormRisk have all increased their predicted numbers for Hurricanes, named storms, and major Hurricanes. Here are the links.

This NOAA satellite image from July 2008 shows Hurricane Bertha. US weather experts raised their predictions for this year's Atlantic hurricane season on Tuesday, warning that warmer waters could whip up 17 tropical storms including nine that will grow into hurricanes. (AFP/NOAA/HO/File/Ho)

The Globals are in agreement. The GFS, ECMWF, CMC, UKMET, & NOGAPS are calling for development of the wave about to move offshore from Africa. Here's the latest satellite image. The last time we had unanimous agreement among the global models, Bertha formed.

I hope I'm doing this right. Hit the FWD button on the right to see GFS model run. First storm looks impressive and the second storm moving off the coast of Africa appears very intense. Oh, and for Pacific folks...Cabo San Lucas (Baja) should keep an eye out.

It's impressive but we need to see how it reacts to getting it's feet wet. We should know by tomorrow morning.
