Got this from a FB update courtesy of the NWS. Wow!
A powerful hurricane-force storm swirls in the Western Atlantic ocean today. The 953 mb system's impressive visible satellite signature can be seen in this image, taken at 15:15 UTC (11:15 a.m. EDT). The inset shows satellite derived winds of 48 kts and greater in the brown and red areas. The NWS Ocean Prediction Center analyzed winds up to 75 kts (83 mph) and 36 ft. seas at the time of the image.
