A cold front is suppose to pass tomorrow bringing our temps back down to the seasonable mid 70s where it should be and not the record highs of the mid 80s where we are now. The cold front may bring showers and thunderstorms and winds as it passes and pushes the warm humid weather south. It's something to keep an eye on! Take care and be safe!!

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL
201 PM EST MON DEC 26 2011

UPADTED AVIATION DISCUSSION

.SHORT TERM (TONIGHT - WEDNESDAY)...
WEAK SFC RIDGE GRADUALLY MIGRATES EAST AND AWAY FROM THE REGION AS A
DEVELOPING MID LVL TROUGH/LOW COMPLEX SWEEPS ACROSS THE EAST HALF OF
THE NATION THROUGH LATE TUESDAY. AN ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT BOUNDARY
WILL REACH THE FL PENINSULA BY TUE MORNING...AT LEAST PER LATEST
GFS/NAM...AND MOVE THROUGH THE AREA UNTIL THE EVENING HOURS.

SHOWERS ARE LIKELY TUESDAY AFTERNOON OVER MUCH OF THE CWA WITH
ENOUGH INSTABILITY AHEAD OF THE FRONT FOR A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS. THE FRONT CLEARS THE AREA BY THE LATE EVENING HOURS
AND IS FOLLOWED BY COLD/DRY AIR ADVECTION FROM THE NORTH. THIS WILL
BRING THE FIRST COOLING EVENT IN A WHILE WITH WED MORNING LOWS
DROPPING AS MUCH AS 15 TO 18 DEGREES ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE NATURE
COAST...AND AROUND 10 DEGREES COOLER ELSEWHERE. THEN FOR THE
AFTERNOON HOURS...IT IS EXPECTED THAT WEDNESDAY`S HIGHS WILL
ACTUALLY REMAIN BELOW NORMALS WITH LOW TO MID 60S NORTH...AND UPPER
60S TO AROUND 70 ELSEWHERE.

.LONG TERM (WEDNESDAY NIGHT-SUNDAY)...
QUASI-ZONAL FLOW ACROSS THE COUNTRY THROUGH THE PERIOD WITH A
SERIES OF NORTHERN STREAM DISTURBANCES MOVING FROM THE NORTHERN
PLAINS TO THE MID ATLANTIC COAST...WITH U/L SUPPORT REMAINING WELL
NORTH OF THE FLORIDA PENINSULA. ONLY IMPACT WILL BE INCREASED
JET CIRRUS ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA WEDNESDAY NIGHT CLEARING OUT
ON THURSDAY...AND INCREASING CIRRUS AGAIN ON SUNDAY. SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WITH
COOL DRY AIR HANGING ON FOR THURSDAY...BUT TEMPERATURES AND LOW
LEVEL MOISTURE WILL BEGIN A GRADUAL MODERATING TREND THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN 5 TO 10 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL ON
THURSDAY...RETURN TO NEAR NORMAL FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...AND CLIMB A
COUPLE OF DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL ON SUNDAY. DRY CONDITIONS WILL
PREVAIL THROUGH THE PERIOD.

.AVIATION...
SOME MVFR CEILINGS AROUND THE TAMPA BAY REGION OVER TO LAKELAND
SHOULD CONTINUE TO LIFT AND BREAK UP WITH VFR CONDITIONS THEN
EXPECTED TO PREVAIL INTO THIS EVENING WITH SOME SCATTERED TO BROKEN
CEILINGS BETWEEN 4000 AND 7000 FEET. THEN SOME AREAS OF MVFR/LOCAL
IFR CEILINGS AND VISIBILITIES ARE EXPECTED TO REDEVELOP LATE TONIGHT
INTO EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.

.MARINE...
WINDS GRADUALLY INCREASE TO NEAR SCA LEVELS BY THIS EVENING AS A
COLD FRONT APPROACHES THE EASTERN GULF WATERS. NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT
THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS ON TUESDAY. THEN HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OVER
THE COASTAL WATERS IN THE WAKE OF THE FRONT AND ALLOW WINDS TO
QUICKLY SUBSIDE BY WEDNESDAY. HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS IN PLACE THROUGH
THE WEEKEND.

.FIRE WEATHER...
DRY AIRMASS DESCENDS UPON THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY AND REMAINS N
PLACE THROUGH FRIDAY WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES NEARING OR
REACHING CRITICAL LEVELS FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS EACH AFTERNOON. ERC
VALUES ARE NOT EXPECTED TO REACH CRITICAL LEVELS.
