Our free API version of Stormpulse for hurricane tracking was recently deactivated and we no longer have access to the data stream. It was a nice service for many years and hopefully it helped our users. It was sad to see the service go.
As an alternative, we have replaced it with a Google Earth API free map tracker. The data feed comes directly from the National Hurricane Center and tracks hurricanes on a global scale and updates automatically. It also has a radar layer that covers the continental US. This data is also automatically updated.
As a user, you will need to allow the Google Earth plugin to download for activation. You may also need to refresh your browser in order for it to load on the first attempt. Once this is done it should automatically load in the future.
As soon as it loads, double click anywhere on the globe and it will zoom in. Double click again to zoom even more. Once you start seeing the data points from an active storm you can click on them for detailed information. Click ahead of the storm track for forecast data. Or, you could use the controls on the right side. Play around with it and let me know what you think.
Check it out from the link below. If you have any questions on it, feel free to leave a reply in this thread or contact me directly. This is a very raw version and I may be adding more layers in the future (models, clouds, etc).
