Chris, in what housing is the Placida submerged camera? Do you use the same Logitech USB webcam as your other sites? If so, how do you deal with USB cable length?
I've tried a submerged camera here in a SW Cape canal but marine growth is a serious problem (and our rootbeer water doesn't help, of course). For now, the camera is just watching our canal (http://ustream.tv/channel/bowcam) but I'd like to sink one, too.

A 6 inch PVC pipe was used cut to about 5 feet. On the bottom there is a 90 capped with plexiglass. Marine caulk was then used to adhere the plexiglass once it was cut to shape. On the top there were two 90's to keep the inside dry. The camera itself is stuck to the plexiglass with d-sided tape.
Yes, the canal water only has a vis of about 1.5' so it would be very difficult to see anything. The water is much better the further you get away from the coffeehatchee. _________________ Chris
